The sculptures made of marble and limestone are a small but important group of works from the former Berlin collection. Among them, for example, the works of outstanding world-famous Italian sculptors Niccolo and Giovanni Pisano, as well as well-known sculptural busts attributed to Mino da Fiesole and Francesco Laurana, preserved in fragments. Conservation of the pieces from this group is complicated by the unstable state of marble, the crystalline structure of which has suffered from high temperatures, and will require further research and development of innovative solutions.
