Doctor Florica Zaharia visits Moscow

The head of The Department of Textile Conservation of the Metropolitan Museum Dr Florica Zaharia has just finished her visit to The Pushkin Sate Museum. Dr Zaharia visited the capital to take part in the project for conservation of an ancient burial shroud from the museum collection.

Now, as the conservation works are coming to an end, the main issues are consolidation, transportation and exhibiting of the piece. These issues were discussed among the museum conservators and their American, who shared the Metropolitan Museum's experience in that field.

During her visit Dr Zaharia gave an open lecture on the work of The Department of Textile Conservation in the Met, as well as took part in filming a documentary series on conservation of the ancient shroud. A new episode of the series can be found on the project website every week.
