French conservators visit the Pushkin State Museum's Department of conservation

In preparation for the exhibition of works from the collection of Ivan Morozov, which will be held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, the painting restoration workshop was visited by French specialists Claire Bergeaud and Claudia Sindaco. The French specialists shared their experience in using the latest scientific developments in the field of restoration and conservation of paintings. At the master-classes, they demonstrated the effect of different compositions on test samples. They discussed the removal of surface contamination and work with later layers of varnish and inpaintings using modern technology and the new use of materials used in the restoration of paper, sculpture and other works of art. The foreign colleagues also spoke about the specifics of the painting technique of some impressionist artists, which they studied while working at the Musée d'Orsay.
