Pushkin Museum at the Kamchatka Museum Assembly

The Kamchatka Museum Assembly "Social and Political Role of the Museum in the Age of Global Transformation" was held in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on February 27 - March 1, 2023. The Assembly was organised by the Ministry of Culture of Kamchatka Region with the active assistance of the Plenipotentiary Representative Office of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, the Government of Kamchatka Region, the V.K. Arsenyev State United Museum-Reserve of History of the Far East and the Far East Museums Association.

About 100 participants from 22 regions of Russia took part in the Assembly, and 40 reports, speeches and lectures were made. The most important issues related to the role of museums in supporting social and psychological well-being in society (in the period of the special military operation, mobilization, sanctions), attracting new visitors, copyright and museum law, grant competitions, human resources and many others were discussed at the Assembly. The Assembly also included an extended meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Russia).

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts was represented at the Assembly by Igor Borodin with a presentation "Digital Projects of the Department of Conservation of the Pushkin Museum: New Challenges and Opportunities". The innovative experience of the department was reflected in the final resolution of the Kamchatka Museum Assembly.
